Kamigata Ukiyoe Museum

Kabuki, one of Japan’s most famous performance-art traditions, features characters played exclusively by male actors. Throughout history, animal characters have held a strong influence in Kabuki stories. In this exhibition, ukiyo-e prints representing these characters are on display. Observe the impact of the animal world on Japanese Kabuki lore.
