Sasayama Castle Ruins, Hyogo

One of the largest bon festival dance events in Japan, Dekansho draws thousands of visitors to dance to this traditional national song. Nobody comes to the festival just to observe – every spectator can be a participant! Take a quick lesson on the Dekansho steps and join the crowds moving to the music surrounding the large wooden bandstand tower or Yagura. There will be food and drink stalls to purchase refreshments and souvenirs from, and both evenings will end with a flurry of fireworks shooting across the sky!
