A couple of years ago, researchers at the Montreal Neurological Institute conducted a study about how music can affect our state of happiness. They listed some songs and pieces from their study which they believed would be inclined to make a person feel happy. One of these was the track First Breath After Coma by the US post-rock four-piece band Explosions In The Sky.
Originally named Breaker Morant, the band formed in 1999. Their first album was the limited numbers release How Strange, Innocence. Their seventh studio album The Wilderness was released last year to positive reviews.
In a recent interview, guitarist Mark Smith said, “This album is an attempt to sort of look at…and honour that wilderness above us and around us.”
