Shoegazing is a subgenre of indie rock that emerged in the UK in the late 1980s and one of the bands at the forefront of the scene was Ride, featuring guitarist Andy Bell (who went on to play bass with Oasis and Beady Eye), and vocalist Mark Gardner. The two formed the band along with drummer Laurence Colbert and bassist Steve Queralt. Signed in 1989 to the famous indie label Creation Records, the band had a strong fanbase, but eventually, after not making a breakthrough, they disbanded in 1995. Ride reformed with the same lineup at the end of 2014, and last year they released their first studio album in 21 years, Weather Diaries.
