Since ancient times, humans have cut and pasted paper to create art, and people of all ages continue to do so today. The genre of “cut paper art” doesn’t have a strict definition, making the possibilities limitless and open to interpretation. Eleven contemporary, cutting-edge illustrators from all over Japan are showcasing their cutout works in this nationwide traveling exhibition, totaling 110 assorted pieces on display.

Each artist and piece is wildly different, revealing just how interpretive and diverse this artform can be. From an artist who only uses scissors to another who has designed stage decorations for singer Nakashima Mika, these intricate displays are sure to please connoisseurs of any style.
