Aioi-Wan, Hyogo

申し訳ありません、このコンテンツはただ今 アメリカ英語 のみです。

Every year on the last Sunday of May, things get heated up in the city of Aioi in Hyogo. Serious rowers, fervent supporters, and laid-back bystanders gather on the shores for fiercely competitive rowing races. The name “Peron” came from Chinese meaning “a white dragon.” Rigged with a fearsome dragon-like head and decorative patterns, the watercraft is crewed by 32 people including percussionists and a rowing instructor. Take a break from the action to check out the colorful parade where various dance teams show off their moves, and sample treats from the more than 200 food stalls. On the 26th, 5,000 fireworks will liven up the festival in the evening from 7:30pm to 8:50pm.
