Hirano Shrine
With 400 trees and 60 different types of cherry blossoms, Hirano-jinja is one of the best places in Kyoto to appreciate the spring in full bloom. The different shades of pink and white saturate the paths and it comes as no surprise that the shrine’s symbol is a cherry blossom flower. At 1pm, a procession of 200 people will parade around the neighborhood, a tradition that has continued annually since 985. To further explore the local area visit the Golden Pavilion and Kitano Tenmangu, both within walking distance.
