This American indie-folk band from Seattle, Washington was formed by high school friends Robin Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset. The two were influenced by Bob Dylan and Neil Young and recorded their first demo in 2006. The duo soon expanded with keyboardist Casey Wescott, drummer Nicholas Peterson, and bassist Bryn Lumsden. The line-up has since changed, now with Christian Wargo and Morgan Henderson. At the end of 2017, the band released the EP The Electric Lady Session, a collection of live radio performances. Writing about their sound, Pecknold has said, “I think this music draws influence and inspiration from popular music and folk rock of the mid-60s to the early 70s. I’d say it’s a synthesis of folk rock, traditional folk, and psychedelic pop.”
