This expansive collection exemplifies Viennese fin‐de‐siècle (turn-of-the-century) graphic design. Between the initiation of the Vienna Secession movement in 1897 and the outbreak of World War I in 1914, Viennese artists like Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffmann endeavored to create new forms of expression suitable for the modern age. The technological advances in printing plus the growing popularity of the magazine industry led to breakthroughs in art both aesthetically and philosophically. Also exhibited are plaster sculptures by Richard Luksch and priceless furniture created by Adolf Loos. This incredible collection was donated by Hiraaki Akira, founder of an apparel company, from his private collection in 2015.
