KH Gallery Ashiya
This exhibition displays a mixture of paintings and fashion from artist and designer Hiroko Koshino, who seeks to create a dazzling balance of Eastern and Western cultural aesthetics in her works. Koshino strives to bring a sense of modern international beauty and flare to traditional Japanese culture, basing certain elements of her style on artistic features prominent in foreign countries in different areas around the globe. The “ki” in “Kira” refers to twill weave, a type of textile weave with a diagonal pattern, while “ra” refers to thin-weave silk fabric. The word in its entirety represents the beauty of these ornately colored fashion items and the appealing aura of the elegant people who wear them.
