Miyama Kayabuki no Sato

Step back in time and see old Japan at this illumination event located north of Kyoto city. Kayabuki no Sato (the thatched village) is lit up decoratively and the whole village is adorned with Yukitouro or snow lanterns, which visitors can experience making. For ¥1,000, English guided walks are conducted daily, providing information on the structure of thatched houses along with Miyama’s history and culture.
