The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow is the city’s largest museum of European artworks, housing some 700,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, applied works, photographs, and archaeological and animalistic objects. This summer, Pushkin is lending 65 carefully selected French landscape paintings to the Osaka National Museum of Art for its seasonal special exhibition. All works date back to the period between the 17th and 20th centuries. The display features a number of time-honored works, including Claude Monet’s Luncheon on the Grass, created just prior to the dawn of Impressionism, and Paul Cézanne’s The Plain by Mont Sainte-Victoire, View from Valcros. The exhibition provides guests with an opportunity to view a well-rounded snapshot of the finest landscapes in French history.
