Kobe Port and surrounding areas

This fireworks display originally started in 1971 when Port Island was in construction and fireworks were lit from the port’s container berth. Now, this event has grown into one of the biggest fireworks festivals in Kansai. This year the event coincides with Kobe Port’s 150th anniversary and a total of 15,000 fireworks will be on display (5,000 more than past years). Popular viewing locations include Meriken Park and various parks in Port Island.
