Born in London to a Colombian mother and an English father, Phil Manzanera, best known as the guitarist with 70’s and 80’s rock band Roxy Music. He spent a lot of his early childhood in different parts of the Americas and picked up his first guitar at the age of six while in Cuba. From 1972 to 1983 Manzanera was a member of Roxy Music alongside Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno. When the band reformed for a 52-date sell-out world tour in 2001, Manzanera also rejoined them. Aside from Roxy Music, Manzanera has produced his own and other artists’ work (he has his own studio in London with a high profile client list) including David Gilmour’s album On An Island (Manzanera also played on the 2006 Gilmour tour to promote the album). On the upcoming dates in Japan, he says, “I’m delighted to be returning with my fantastic Sound Of Blue band, who are brimming with youthful talent and incredible musicianship, they keep me on top of my game!”
