Stating this group was “Born out of fierce friendship and a mutual affection for melody,” Julia Steiner of Chicago’s Ratboys goes on to say that the band, around the anchor of herself and guitarist David Sagan, “aims to write songs that tell stories and honor the intimacy of memory.”
Formed in early 2009, Ratboys two years later released their first EP titled Ratboy. This was followed in 2015 by the release of their debut studio album AOID under Topshelf Records, before embarking on a US promotional tour. In June 2017, they released the album GN.
Most recently, the band has put out four more songs, which they say are an extension of the GN album. The EP is titled GL　and was recorded around the same time.
In a musical world where new genres are being invented all the time, Ratboys claims to be under the title of ‘post-country.’
