With a backdrop of plum and cherry trees in full bloom, performers bravely dance on a tightrope crossing a 10-meter valley. The dance is part of Isenomori-jinja’s annual festival, as thousands congregate to the shrine’s grounds tucked away in a mountainous area on Awaji Island. After a comedic performance on the shrine grounds, the tightrope lion dance begins.
