Welcome to the space odyssey – the collaboration of DJ Jeff Mills and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is finally coming to Osaka with Mills’ new ‘Electronic Classical’ album Planets. Jeff Mills (aka ‘The Wizard’) is one of Detroit Techno’s visionaries and the father of Minimal Techno. His hit tune The Bells from Kat Moda EP (1996) sold more than 500,000 copies and is still admired by techno producers to this day. His career started in the 80s when he founded the collective Underground Resistance with ‘Mad’ Mike Banksin in 1990. Mills created his own record label Axis with Robert Hood in 1992, and continued exploring the possibility of new sounds and contexts for techno. Playing with an orchestra is one of the most interesting possibilities he has explored. He released the DVD of his live collaboration with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005 and then proceeded to tour all over the world. Unlike the collaborated show with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra last year, conductor Andrea Battistoni, who is expected to be a successor of the great Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini, will join Mills at Festival Hall to play songs from his new album. Immerse yourself in the music and chill out at this unique musical experience.
