Turn off the lights, ignite your candles, and watch as 20,000 flickering flames burn to life in the busy commercial district of Nishi-Umeda, Osaka. The two-hour lights-out period in and around Umeda will be an excellent opportunity to see a very different view of the city. There will also be installation artwork exhibitions using candle light, such as “Candle Corridors” and “Message Candles.” There will be live music performances and various other events. The Candle Night is a peaceful event that encourages the general public to perform their own personal Candle Night by turning off the lights in their homes for two hours to save power and enjoy summer evenings by candlelight.
