Kyoto International Manga Museum

The Kyoto International Manga Museum is pleased to present an exhibition centering on French-language comics originally created in Quebec, Canada. French bande dessinée, meaning “comics,” have gained popularity in Japan in recent years, but little is known about their québécoise counterparts. This display aims to provide knowledge about this mysterious subset of the Canadian art scene by covering the history of bande dessinée, in addition to the works of seven contemporary artists from Quebec. This exhibition has been organized as an exchange project following last year’s formation and signing of a friendship and collaboration agreement between Kyoto Prefecture and the Canadian province of Quebec.
