Dutch symphonic metal group Epica, fronted by vocalist Simone Johanna Maria Simons, takes in a number of different genre influences. Speaking to KS, the vocalist said, “There has always been a love for soundtracks and symphonic metal. Through the years our music has evolved because of the other songwriters that joined us.”
Last year saw the release of Epica’s latest album The Holographic Principle, ad when describing the album, Simons stated that it’s the band’s “most complex and epic sound to date. We went real deep to write and record these songs. We have five songwriters in the band and started off with a huge amount of songs. We picked the absolute best ones and recorded them with the addition of a real orchestra and choir.”
