Mr. Kelly’s, Osaka

One of the most promising up-and-coming talents on Japan’s Jazz scene, Erena Terakubo recently released her fifth album Little Girl Power. The album features a selection of both covers and original compositions. Playing alto and soprano saxophone, Terakubo is backed by a trio of drums, bass, and piano.
Hailing from Sapporo and a student of the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, she released her debut album North Bird in 2010 when she was just 18, hitting the top spot in the Japanese jazz charts. The jazz musician who plays in both America and Japan and has worked with other artists such as Sadao Watanabe, Terumasa Hino, Yosuke Yamashita, Eddie Gomez, Jimmy Cobb, and Anthony Jackson.
Another young talented Japanese saxophonist to look out for this month is Yucco Miller, she released her second album in March, Saxonic, and will also play Mr. Kelly’s, Osaka (Aug 7).
