Various Parts of Kyoto

Commonly known as Daimonji, giant bonfires burn on the five mountains surrounding Kyoto City. These five bonfires (three in the shape of Japanese kanji characters, one in the form of a ship, and the other in the outline of a torii gate) can be seen from many places in the heart of the city.
