Forty-five years ago, Ian Hunter’s band Mott the Hoople decided to call it a day. Then, a fan of the band, David Bowie, offered them a song he had written – All The Young Dudes – and convinced them to continue. The song was a huge hit and the band played on for a couple more years before everyone finally went their separate ways.
Hunter continued to deliver solo releases and will now perform in Japan again with the band from the 2001 studio album Rant, which includes Steve Holley on drums (ex-Wings with Paul McCartney) and Andy York on guitar (John Mellencamp band).
Ian Hunter and The Rant Band have a new album out called Fingers Crossed (2016) and after this year’s release – the single Ghosts – Classic Rock magazine wrote, “On this evidence, nothing’s going to touch him (Ian Hunter) in these golden years.”
