Born Jake Edwin Charles Kennedy, English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg got his first break as a 17-year-old. After submitting material, he was selected to appear on the BBC Introducing stage at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival. Signing with Mercury records soon after, Bugg released his debut self-titled album in 2012, which was described by the UK music magazine CLASH as “precocious talent fusing retro folk with blistering contemporary riffs.”
Jumping forward to the present, Bugg’s latest release is his fourth studio album, Hearts That Strain. On the album, Bugg said, “This time around I just wanted to write tunes and record them with great musicians.” Of the lyrical content, he added, “I’m singing about my life, not telling anybody what they should be doing with theirs.”
Jake Bugg comes to Japan for three dates (Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo) after a UK acoustic tour and dates in the US, Europe, and Australia.
