Kashihara Shrine & surroundings

This annual spring festival is held in honor of the First Emperor of Japan, who is said to be enshrined in Kashihara-jingu. The two-day event starts with an original play reenacting Emperor Jimmu’s expedition to the east by a local theater group. The festival features a wide array of performances, a grand street parade, kids’ workshops, and street markets.
