A Look at Life Born from a Satoyama Workshop

Kirigami artist and photographer Mitsuhiko Imamori lives in the hills of Satoyama where he tends rice paddies and forests. Working in this environment fuels Imamori’s drive to produce vivid photography and cut-paper representations of plants and creatures found in the natural world throughout Japan’s changing seasons. His colorful and detailed creations inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the many recurring patterns and shades present in the fields and mountains of the Japanese countryside. This exhibition showcases some 250 of Imamori’s latest works in conjunction with a series of events, including a talk and autograph-signing session with Imamori himself, providing guests with an opportunity to talk face-to-face with this award-winning artist.
