Minatogawa Shrine, Hyogo

Located near downtown Kobe, Minatogawa Shrine was established in 1872 to enshrine the spirit of Kusunoki Masashige, a military commander of the 14th century. The procession originated over 600 years ago when Kusunoki Masashige welcomed the emperor returning from Oki (Shimane) and escorted him back to Kyoto. Don’t miss this chance to witness the procession for it only takes place every few years with approximately 600 participants dressed in ornate traditional costumes. Starting from Minatogawa shrine, the parade will tour around the surrounding Kobe neighborhoods.
