Chikurinzan Joshoji Temple

Four ogres march around a temple hall with heavy footsteps and throw flaming torches into the garden. This ceremony marks the beginning of spring with its 600 year old history, as the ogres follow the lead of a {sennin} or hermit, and conducting gestures of cutting {mochi} and fire tricks.
