Heijokyo Palace Site

The Otateyama Festival features four colorful dashi (floats) featuring tateyama – giant (7m tall) images of Buddhist gods – representing Nara’s hopes and wishes for good health and prosperity for all in the new year. The towering Buddhist gods will parade around the historic palace grounds.
