Sokujoh-in

At the end of the Heian Era (around the 11th century) people wanted to be salvaged by the Land of Paradise. Sokujoh-in temple houses the 25 Bodhisattva statues surrounding the deity Amidanyorai, which are said to guide people to the Land of Paradise. Once a year the Bodhisattvas, reenacted by young children wearing signature golden masks, come to the present world and parade on the temple’s grounds.
