Sokujoh-in
At the end of the Heian Era (around the 11th century) people wanted to be salvaged by the Land of Paradise. Sokujoh-in temple houses the 25 Bodhisattva statues surrounding the deity Amidanyorai, believed to guide people to the Land of Paradise. Once a year, the Bodhisattvas—represented by young children wearing signature golden masks—come to the present world and parade around the temple’s grounds.
