British musician, songwriter, and Game of Thrones actor Wilko Johnson turned 70 this year, and it seems that the former guitarist for bands Dr. Feelgood and The Blockheads is still going strong despite playing a farewell tour in 2013. At the time, Johnson had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Thankfully, after extensive treatment, he pulled through, and being back on the road after beating the odds, he told KS that it feels “Weird but nice.” Johnson is back in Japan for dates in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo. The Kyoto gig is already sold out and Kansai fans will be hoping for a career-wide set list; his comment on this was that it’ll be the “same old blues,” but fans of Johnson will know to expect the unexpected.
After such a long and successful career, artists tend to slow down but Wilko Johnson plans to soon be in the studio recording a new album with bassist Norman Watt-Roy and drummer Dylan Howe.
