Yousuke Yukimatsu is one of Osaka’s hardest working DJs. You might guess this simply from the fact that he usually has his shirt off while bent over his turntables, radiating pure concentration and heat, but Yukimatsu has been in techno game since 2008. He began to attract more serious notice after playing with DJ Nobu at the latter’s Future Terror party in 2014, and Yukimatsu’s powerful style and genre-bending mixes have earned him regular spots at Berlin’s Atonal Festival, as well as his own Boiler Room set this year. However, in spite of his increasing popularity, Yukimatsu’s sets give the distinct impression of being thoroughly “underground” in their defiance of easy categorization, blending techno, bass music, and more experimental sounds to create environments that are solely his own. This upcoming show at Soto, with a 15-ticket limit, promises to offer an intimate introduction to one of Osaka’s most progressive and enigmatic DJs and should not be missed.
