Kyoto Imperial Palace, Shimogamo & Kamigamo Shrines

One of the oldest festivals in Japan, Aoi Matsuri even appears in the Tale of Genji that was written in the 11th century. The captivating parade moves to Kamigamo-jinja from the Imperial palace via Shimogamo-jinja. It is free to stand and watch or follow along with the parade, but buying tickets for seats is also possible.
