It’s now just over 20 years since vocalist Masafumi Goto, guitarist Kensuke Kita, and bassist Takahiro Yamada came together and formed their first college band. Later joined by drummer Kiyoshi Ijichi, they released their debut album, Kimi Tsunagi Five M in 2003. Since then, the band has released eight studio albums, the last being Wonder Future in 2015. Most recently, Asian Kung-Fu Generation has released live material and re-recordings of earlier tracks.
They state their influences over the years as many Western bands such as Manic Street Preachers, Supergrass, Oasis, Weezer, and Teenage Fanclub to name just a few, though it’s easy to hear a mixture of music leanings such as pop, punk, and metal in their songs.
