Hirano Shrine

With 400 trees and 60 different types of cherry blossoms, Hirano-jinja Shrine is one of the best places in Kyoto to appreciate the spring in full bloom. The different shades of pink and white saturate the paths and it comes as no surprise that the Shrine’s symbol is a cherry blossom flower. On this day a procession of 200 people will parade around the neighborhood starting at Hirano-jinja Shrine at 1pm. This parade called Okasai has taken place annually since 985 on April 10. For further exploration in the local area, make sure to visit Kinkakuji and Kitano Tenmangu, both within walking distance.
