Todai-ji Temple, Nara

This is a Buddhist service for the Emperor Shomu who erected the statue of the Great Buddha, Daibutsu. There will be a parade of around 300 people starting at the Nara Kasugano International Forum and moving through Todai-ji’s Nandaimon Gate and ending at the Great Buddha Hall. Traditional Japanese court music bugaku will be performed on the stage near Kagami pond.
