Izumo Dai-jingu

At this quiet shrine located in eastern Kameoka, the Izumo-style flower dance is performed with dancers wearing hats covered in seasonal flowers. During ancient times, it was said that the blooming flowers in spring could cause diseases to spread. The festival and the dance were devised to appease the gods and ask them to prevent any epidemics.
