Koji Kinutani’s use of dynamic color combinations, bold motifs, and surreal imagery makes his works easily recognizable to Japanese art lovers. After studying at the Venice Academy in Italy in the 70s, Kinutani became famous for employing classical fresco techniques to contemporary pieces. He won the Yasui Prize at the age of 31, one of Japan’s most prestigious art awards. Since then he has participated in many projects while showing his work in the Dokuritsu Art Association exhibition. This exhibition covers the entire span of Kinutani’s career, with well-known works shown alongside others that have never been displayed to the public. This multimedia collection includes paintings, ceramics, glass works, 3-D works, and a three-screen video installation.
