Nara Prefectural Museum of Art

Realism in art has captivated the human mind for centuries. Creators aim to capture and display various aspects of their conscious experience of reality for the consideration of their viewers, and modern technology has allowed them to produce such works at increasingly precise levels. Traditional Japanese artistic techniques, often influenced by the world of Western art, have continually adapted to aid the desire for accurate reproductions of real-life objects. In this exhibition, viewers can see works of various mediums, like paintings, sculptures, and crafts, that focus on the genre of modern Japanese realism with a collection of pieces brought to Nara from around the country.
