Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza

Watch the graceful movements of geiko (geisha) from the Gion Kobu district perform at their annual spring performance Miyako Odori. With its initial performance dating back to 1872 during the Meiji Period, Miyako Odori has been a prominent part of Kyoto’s cultural history. The stunning dances, accompanied by traditional songs and music, portray the four seasons in Japan. Each performance runs for 50 minutes and there are three performances everyday from April 1 to 24. A tea ceremony held prior to the show is on offer to those with Special Seat tickets. This year, the event will take place at Kyoto University of Art & Design’s theater Shunjuza. Reserve tickets online.
