Watch the graceful movements of geiko (geisha) from the Gion Kobu district perform at their annual spring event Miyako Odori. With its initial performance dating back to 1872 during the Meiji Period, Miyako Odori has been a prominent part of Kyoto’s cultural history. The stunning dances, accompanied by traditional songs and music, portray the four seasons in Japan. Each performance runs for 60 minutes, and there are three shows every day from April 1 to 27. A tea ceremony held prior to the show is available to those with Special Seat tickets. This year, the event returns to the newly renovated Minamiza Theatre. Tickets are available for purchase online.
