Domyoji Tenmangu
To commemorate the death of the 8th century aristocrat, politician, and poet, Sugawara no Michizane, the shrine’s annual event is held when the plum flowers are in full bloom. At 4pm, priests throw good luck {mochi} or rice cakes to the visitors to pray for a prosperous year. An open-air market also takes place in the shrine’s precincts.
