Formed in 2016, Prophets of Rage is an American rap rock super-group. The group consists of guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk, of Rage Against The Machine alongside Public Enemy’s DJ Lord and Chuck D, and rapper B-Real from Cypress Hill.
Described by guitarist Morello to Rolling Stone magazine at the time of their formation as “an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing.” The band released their self-titled debut album of original material last year, which followed the 2016 EP of covers The Party’s Over.
A very politically minded band, Morello also stated “Dangerous times demand dangerous songs. We’ve come back to remind everyone what raging against the machine really means”.
