Red and blue are two colors that have been deeply connected with faith throughout the ages and are often regarded as sacred by practitioners of various religions. They are said to be connected with certain ideas, feelings, or parts of the body, and leave the strongest impressions of all the colors within the visual spectrum. This exhibition presents a selection of ancient artworks from within Japan and around the world that implement red and blue themes. Featured mediums include sculpture, pottery, painting, and more. Guests are invited to examine these works and consider the relationship between red, blue, and the spiritual realm of the ancient world.
