Sakanaction is a Japanese rock band from Sapporo. Their sound is a mix of alternative rock, electronic, pop, and new wave. The band members are Ichiro Yamaguchi, Motoharu Iwadera, Ami Kusakari, Emi Okazaki, and Keiichi Ejima. The unusual band name is apparently a joining of two words, fish (sakana) and action. They are enjoying increasing popularity, having hit mainstream success with their releases consistently achieving positions within the Top 10 on Japan’s Oricon charts. The band’s latest release was this year’s album Sakanazukan. The album is a three-disc best-of album. The album covers tracks from 2007 to 2018 and the package design features artwork that looks like a classic fish guidebook.
