One of Kansai’s own, Osaka rock band Scandal formed in August 2006 when high school girls Haruna (vocals and rhythm guitar), Mami (lead guitar), Tomomi (bass), and Rina (drums) played live street performances before being noticed and signed to the indie label Kitty Records. In 2008, they released three singles and a mini-album and also visited the United States, France, and Hong Kong to play live. 2008 also saw the release of their major debut single, Doll, on Epic Records. Last year the pop-rock band released their eighth studio album Honey, and a review from JaME U.S.A. stated that “with Honey, Scandal returned to their garage-rock roots but with an emotional maturity and a technical sophistication to their songwriting.”
