Formed in Reading, England in 1989 by childhood friends Rachel Goswel (vocals and guitar) and Neil Halstead (vocals and guitar), Slowdive’s sound can be described as ambient indie-rock. They released their debut album Just For A Day in 1991 through Creation Records, which had a sticker on the front that read “Like a mind-altering substance without the risk.” In 1995, after releasing the album Pygmalion, the band changed their lineup and rebranded as Mojove3, releasing six albums between 1995 and 2006.
Slowdive reformed in 2014 and at the beginning of this year, they released their fourth and self-titled album. A reviewer from the online magazine Consequence of Sound described it as, “nearly everything their fans desired in a return; familiarity, innovation, and vast atmospheres to get lost in.”
