Jishu Shrine, Kyoto

Dedicated as a shrine for love and matchmaking, the Star Festival is the most fitting time to visit Jishu Shrine as the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi reunite on the 7th of July.
Many visit to wish for a successful romance by writing their names on paper dolls that are then tied onto the sacred bamboo tree.
