Abeno Harukas Art Museum

The Tower of the Sun, the main symbol of Osaka’s Expo Commemoration Park in Suita, was created for the 1970 Expo by artist Taro Okamoto. The tower’s unique shape, design, and the iconic faces displayed on its front and back have intrigued viewers since it was unveiled to the public. This multimedia exhibition covers the history of the tower, from its conception to present-day use. What did Okamoto have in mind during the tower’s creation? What lies hidden inside the tower? The answers to these questions and more will be presented alongside elaborate models and related works, including diverse media forms such as video and sound.
